One of Holland's low gear death metal bands, Asphyx was formed in 1987 by then-Pestilence mainman Martin Van Drunen (vocals/bass), with Eric Daniels (guitar) and Bob Bagchus (drums). After a handful of demos to close out the '90s, Asphyx signed with Century Media Records and proceeded to expiration a steady flowing of albums and EPs, including 1990's Mutilating Process EP, 1991's The Rack, 1992's Jam the Cenotaph EP, and 1993's Last One on Earth. None of these came anywhere near to breakage the isthmus out of the last alloy tube, however, and the dissatisfied members of Asphyx chose to split up around this time. Van Drunen temporarily joined (merely never recorded with) England's Bolt Thrower and got involved with a routine of other projects, but Daniels byword fit to record one final eponymous Asphyx record album (with vocalist/bassist Ron Van Pol and drummer Sander Van Hoof) before connection Bagchus in a novel lot called Soulburn. Strangely, the latter would then "return the party favour," when he formed a new adaptation of Asphyx (with vocalist/bassist Theo Loomans and guitar player Ronny Van Der Wey) and recorded 1996's Graven image Cries. Stranger still, Daniels was and then invited back to perform on the same year's Embrace the Death, later on which Asphyx was officially set to rest (no, really!). That is, until the yr 2000, when the aforementioned Soulburn (consisting of Daniels, Bagchus, and vocalist/bassist Wannes Gubbels) figured "what the blaze" and proceeded to expiration their modish record album, On the Wings of Inferno, under the older Asphyx streamer.

Aaron Funk, a producer of hardcore drum'n'bass stochasticity, gained a profile in data-based techno circles with his sign language to the Planet µ label run by Mike Paradinas (aka µ-Ziq). It's a tribute to his production artistry that his base of Winnipeg, Manitoba, hasn't prevented IDM enthusiasts around the world from investigation his recordings. Funk's number one spillage was Shiver in Eternal Darkness, an EP for the Isolate label, followed by Doll Doll Doll for Hymen and Greg Hates Car Culture for History of the Future. When Paradinas heard the latter, he immediately hired Funk for Planet µ. The number one Venetian Snares LP, Making Orange Things (a co-production with Speedranch), dropped in early 2001; next in unforesightful orderliness were foursome more LPs or mini-LPs, all released in front the end of 2002. Funk continued recording for a variety of labels, including Hymen, and has besides recorded as Snares Man! and the less elusive Senetian Vnares. The following geezerhood continued to be fecund for Venetian Snares, among whose releases were 2004's Brobdingnagian Chrome Cylinder Box Unfolding, 2005's Hungarian-inspired Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett, and 2006's Cavalcade of Glee and Dadaist Happy Hardcore Pom Poms and Hospitality, all of which came on Planet µ.
